Both parents and pupils should keep in mind the following principles of discipline laid down in the Secondary Schools Code (1979), Rule 56.
GENERAL BEHAVIOUR
1. Discipline is a vital part of our school’s welfare policy. It is the function of the school community, through a system of relationships, rules, rewards and sanctions designed to encourage and develop self-discipline within the children. If there is a persistent problem the class teacher and / or the management will draw up an improvement programme to support the child in partnership with parents. If the problem continues, the school reserves the right to make a decision that suits the interests of the student community.
2. Pupils should realise that they are responsible to the school authorities not only for their conduct in school but also for their general behaviour outside. Any reported or observed objectionable conduct out of school on the part of pupils shall make them liable to disciplinary action.
3. Parents or guardians are given to understand that they cannot dictate to the management and that the management has a right to say on what conditions that they will admit or retain pupils in their school.
4. Every student should carry books in accordance with the time-table.
5. The School ID Card should be worn everyday.
SECURITY
1. Care is taken to ensure that no untoward mishap occurs while your child is with us. However, acidents can occur, either on the school premises, or while the children are on the school bus, or at a picnic, the school will bear no financial responsibility.
2. Likewise, if there is a problem in the city (eg. riots), and parents feel that venturing outside the house is risky, they are advised to keep their children at home; or leave them at school, at their own risk.
ATTENDANCE AND LEAVE OF ABSENCE
1. Regular attendance is one of the conditions under which a student is admitted. No leave of absence is granted except on previous written application from the parents/ guardians and then only for serious reasons which should be mentioned. Absence without leave renders a student liable to a fine. Such absence before or after holidays renders the student liable to be struck off the rolls.
2. Leave during school days will not be given for more than three days at a time, except in cases of serious sickness, or death in the family. Religious pilgrimages should be planned for the period of holidays.
3. Those students who absent themselves from school without the knowledge of their parents/ guardians, will be liable to severe disciplinary action or even dismissal. Should such absence be during the time of Unit tests/exam, he will be given 0 marks for the respective Unit Tests/Exam.
4. A student who has been absent from school will not be admitted to class without the Principal's signature in the calendar.
5. In case of illness the student on returning to school, must bring a note in the Calendar from his parents/guardians certifying to the fact.
