Special Activities

Apart from regular PET periods, special activities are conducted for an hour every Wednesday and Friday. Special coaches are deputed to teach karate, gymnastics, Roller Skating, Table Tennis, Chess, Keyboard and Western Dance. These activities give children a chance to further exercise their body and mind and develop their personality.

Competitions

GT Aloha Vidhya Mandir, a school which has been in existence only since the last 6 months, has earned a name for itself.

19th and 20th July, 2010.


28 students from classes I  to VIII took part in the Horlicks Whizkids Competition.

4th September, 2010.

Students from Pre KG, LKG and UKG, 12 in all participated in Shisu Utsav, conducted by Chettinad Vidhyashram. LKG Students won the II place for Action Song among 40 schools of Chennai Kanishka Kothari, who played the role of a nurse, won special mention.

15th October, 2010.

‘Idea’ organized the Designforchange competition,  where students in a group of 4 or 5 had to identify a problem,  work out a solution and problem, work out a solution and implement the same in 7 days,  (26th September,  to 2nd October).

Ashmitha, Alagappan and Tarun of class VII and Antony of class VIII took on a ‘Each One Teach One. Project and taught an underprivileged student each. A power point presentation of the project was sent to the organizers.

28th October, 2010.

A handwriting competition was organized by the Tamilnadu Hindi Prachar Sabha, in which – 57 students from classes V to VIII - participated.


2nd November, 2010.

Chinmaya Mission conducted a Bhagavad Gita Chanting competition in which a record number of 98 students participated out of them 34 won prizes;  there were nine  I prizes,  six  II prizes,  two  III prizes and  twenty two special prizes.

14th November, 2010.

Sri Raghavi of class VI and Sashmita of class VI took part in the All – India Karate Championship and won the I and III prizes respectively.

14th November, 2010.

Sakambari Women’s group.
Conducted Fancy Dress Competition in lieu of children’s day.  5 students participated.

The following prizes were won by our students.
Nandana - I prize.
Ria Sunil - Consolation prize.
Haresh Raj - Special prize.

Tanya Sahay of class VI won a scholarship of rupees one lakh in the quiz competition conducted by Max New York Life Insurance company. Among 3 lakh participants she was placed II .

Ganesh Of class III won the first prize in the Global art Drawing Competition conducted by Colours Champ 10.

25th  November, 2010.

Fairy Fiesta was conducted by St. John’s International, Neelankarai, for classes Pre – KG to V. Twenty students participated and came back with six  I prizes,   three  II prizes and  one III prize.

30th November, 2010

Spartan Spelling Bee Competition was held in the school for classes I  to VIII on 30th November, 2010. In all, 115 students took part, of whom  50 have been selected to take part in the zonal level.

4th December, 2010

Shruthilaya of class IV added another feather in the cap of GT Aloha Vidhya Mandir when she bagged the I Prize in the WEBOLIM Ramayana Sloka Competition.
